Arc Welding Safety

  1. Get Setup Safely
Ensure welders are installed to code. Ground equipment and use independent circuits with proper fusing.
  2. Wear the Right PPE
Protect against burns, sparks, UV light, and molten metal with dark, fire-retardant clothing, skull caps, leather gloves, and safety boots.
  3. Prevent Fires and Explosions
Welding can reach temps over 10,000°F. Avoid flammable surfaces, fumes, or working near fuel containers.
  4. Know Your Materials
Welding fumes can be toxic. Work in ventilated spaces or use respirators when welding galvanized, zinc-coated, or treated metals.
