When it’s warm outside, nothing is as satisfying as a nice cool glass of water. Staying hydrated is on everyone’s mind during the summer because we know the chances of dehydration are higher. However, winter dehydration is just as common and essential to combat. Some people get less thirsty when it is cold outside, and we don’t tend to sweat as much, but our bodies never stop needing water. Your body needs water to survive for many processes, not just when you sweat.
Because our bodies are less likely to crave hydration in the wintertime, you cannot rely solely on thirst.
It is recommended to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day, or the 8x8 rule as Healthline states. This amount equals half a gallon of water.
So, bring a reusable water bottle with you and fill it up with Finken’s purified water. Find out how many times you need to refill your bottle to meet that goal. If you know how much water you need a day, you will be more likely to meet that goal.
If you are struggling to drink a cold glass of water in the winter, you can still get your hydration from other things like fruit, vegetables, or teas.
Watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, and oranges all have a lot of water in them and can help you stay hydrated. Cucumbers and lettuce also make great choices for vegetables when increasing your water intake.
Heat some water and add a tea bag or drink skim-milk to also get that water into your body through other drink options. There are many ways to stay hydrated in the winter to reduce your chances of becoming dehydrated or getting dry skin.
Staying hydrated is essential all year round because your body never stops needing water. Make sure you continue to drink the recommended amount of water daily so you can stay healthy in the winter months.
If your drinking water at home tastes funny, you might need a reverse-osmosis system. Just remember to think Finken for all your hydration needs.
