We’re all beyond tired of the snow and cold weather! Bring on the warm air, sandals, and backyard barbeques! Yes, you might be ready for the summer but, is your air conditioner ready too? Getting a tune-up for your A/C unit is just as important for the summer as putting on sun-block. Both precautionary measures will ensure you have the best summer possible. Here are a few reasons you should make sure to tune-up your air conditioner for the upcoming summer. It will prolong the life of your system. Seriously, one of the main reasons air conditioners go out is because they haven’t been properly maintained. Think of it like a car, you change the oil and schedule regular maintenance checks to avoid having to do major damage control later on. It’s the same with your air conditioner; you have to maintain it to prevent a problem down the line. Without regular maintenance, inspections and tune-ups your air conditioner’s machinery will begin to break down quickly. It will improve your health. A filter can only hold so much material before it eventually stops filtering air. Any air that does not go through an air filter is contaminated with debris and other airborne particles. This wreaks havoc on allergies and irritates those with breathing problems. In some instances, the air that we breath in our homes can be more toxic and harmful to us than the air outside. It’s extremely important to take care of your home’s indoor air quality. Air conditioning tune-ups is one way to do this. During the tune-up, all of your air filters will be replaced making sure that the air coming into your home is clean. 3. It will prevent unexpected loss of cooling. In some cases, surprises are fun! When it’s 90 degrees out and 184 degrees with humidity (ok, we’re exaggerating just a tad but still) and your air conditioner breaks, it’s not one of those times. No cool air inside when it’s miserable outside does not make a fun surprise. Luckily, by scheduling regular tune-ups, you can prevent that from happening. Fans don’t always cut it. 4. It’s more energy efficient. Now days, everyone is talking about energy efficiency and it’s a good thing that they are! There are so many benefits for homeowners when it comes to energy efficiency. The most noticeable is the money you’ll save on your energy bill each month. Everyone likes saving money! Regular A/C tune-ups have been known to reduce your energy bill by ensuring that everything is running smoothly and that you’re A/C unit is not having to work harder to cool your home than is necessary. As little as .042 inches of dust build-up in the machine will lead to an efficiency drop of up to 21%.Springtime is the best time of year to do your tune-up since you’re not typically running your heat and you haven’t started running the air conditioner yet. If you haven’t scheduled your tune-up yet, you definitely should before the weather gets warm. You can thank us later for the reminder!
